Illegal Medical Tests Carried Out on Psychiatric Patients

In a psychiatric institution in Heiloo, psychiatric patients who have heavy illnesses, and thus cannot make decisions of their own free will, have been used illegally as subjects for testing new medications.  The researcher had permission to do such tests solely on ambulant patients who are able to make decisions for themselves.  The caretaker who has brought the study out to the public has been dismissed, and been told that if she discloses any further information, she will be given a high fine.  Law professor Frans van Wijman says that deviating from research protocol is forbidden and that it may be considered a crime, which can lead to prosecution.
