A scheduled game between the British
soccer club Blackburn Rovers and the Dutch club NEC in Nijmegen was cancelled
due to the threat of violence from fans. Local authorities in Nijmegen and the
police took this decision after British supporters were allegedly involved in
disturbances in Deventer last weekend and there was also a confrontation in
Nijmegen.
