Parliamentarians Criticize “Tourism” of Addicts

Several parliamentarians have criticized plans to send 12 drug addicts of Surinam ethnicity to Surinam for a year at the expense of the taxpayers, in order to “to find their roots.” The cost for each person’s trip will be 50,000 Euro, to be paid from monies which also fund services for the handicapped and the elderly. This fund is already under heavy financial pressure because of the graying of the Netherlands and reduced income.
