Domestic Violence Greatly Underestimated

Officially, every year 60-80 women and 40-50 children in the Netherlands die as a result of domestic violence. In an article, published in British Journal of Clinical Forensic Medicine Amsterdam Dr. Udo Reijnders claims that these figures represent only a fraction of all such deaths. He claims that the figures are heavily understated because doctors and nurses, even in emergency wards, are often unable to identify the sources of such deaths.
